Wednesday Round-Up: An Elite Seahawks Receiver Room – Seahawks.com

Seahawks.com Writer
Good afternoon, 12s. Here’s a look at what’s out there today – Wednesday, June 22 – about your Seattle Seahawks.
There may be a lot of new faces in the Seahawks locker room, but wideout duo of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf remain as two of the league’s most-dangerous weapons. Sports Illustrated’s Corbin Smith broke down the Seahawks post-camp roster, and broke down why receiver isn’t an area of concern.
Seven receivers have caught over 25 touchdowns and more than 3,000 receiving yards since 2019 – Lockett and Metcalf are two members of that club.
Lockett enters 2022 coming off three-consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, joining Seahawks Legend Steve Largent as the only other player to do so in franchise history.

Last week, Metcalf was the only Seahawk to be named to CBS’ Pete Prisco’s Top-100 NFL Players of 2022 list, coming in at No. 66.
This month, Metcalf (No.11) and Lockett (No.23) were named to Pro Football Focus‘ Top-25 Wideouts list for 2022. In Febraury, Metcalf was ranked No.91 on PFF’s Top 101 players of the 2021 season list.
Smith also discusses a potential sleeper in rookie wideout and Rutgers alum Bo Melton, sharing the same sentiments as Seattle Sports 710 AM host and former Seahawks wideout Michael Bumpus on Melton. Smith shares thoughts on how Melton can separate himself amongst a crowded wideout room.
“Trying to crack a deep receiving rotation headlined by Metcalf and Lockett won’t be an easy undertaking for an incoming rookie,” said Smith “But the versatile Melton should be an intriguing fit in offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s offense due to his positional flexibility. He can run routes or take handoffs from the slot, has played out of the backfield in the past, and has extensive experience playing the X and Z spots on the outside.”
