The Seahawks kick off their 2022 preseason on Saturday versus the Steelers. But three players have completely balled out in training camp so far.
The Seahawks have a lot to figure out in a month. In one month, Seattle will start the 2022 regular season – September 12th against the Denver Broncos. After a seemingly long and tumultuous offseason, real games are almost here.
No longer does Seattle have Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner. Wagner’s replacement is known. Cody Barton will take his spot this year. But the most important position in football is the quarterback, of course, and Seattle still doesn’t know who its starting QB will be.
At times in training camp, both Drew Lock and Geno Smith have looked decent to terrible. Neither player in one of the three players that follow that have gotten glowing reviews in training camp and that might imply the Seahawks will have massive issues winning games in 2022.
But general manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll made an intentional effort to remake the team this offseason into one that is younger and hungrier. This mentality is the same one that the great Seahawks teams of the early 2010s had and Schneider and Carroll hope they can get lucky twice.
It’s certainly a gamble and they bet on themselves. While Schneider and Carroll take a lot of criticism because that’s what general managers and head coaches do in general, hopefully, the majority of 12s realize the team has mostly been really good since 2010 when Schneider and Carroll came to town and have earned the right to bet on themselves.
But which players on this retooled Seattle team have stood out the most in training camp? Possibly the three that follow.
