Seahawks Sign Joshua Onujiogu and Jabari Zuniga To Practice Squad – Senior Reporter
Outside linebacker Joshua Onujiogu, an undrafted rookie who made the Seahawks initial 53-man roster before being waived a day later, is back with the team having signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers. The Seahawks also signed defensive end Jabari Zuniga, a 2020 third-round pick.
Those two additions fill out Seattle’s practice squad, which includes 17 players due to the exemption given for linebacker Aaron Donkor, who is part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.
Onujiogu, who signed with Seattle in May as an undrafted free agent out of Division III Framingham State, had a strong training camp and preseason, including a sack in last week’s game at Dallas, and was on the initial 53-man roster following Tuesday’s cuts. A day later, however, Onujiogu was waived to make room on the roster after the Seahawks were awarded a pair of players on waivers.
Zuniga, who played his college football at Florida, was selected in the third round of the 2020 draft by the New York Jets. After starting his rookie season on injured reserve, Zuniga appeared in eight games. He spent most of last season on the Jets’ practice squad, playing in three games and recording one sack.
