Seahawks rule out 2 vs Broncos, Lewis and rookie Walker questionable – Seattle Sports

The Seahawks’ first official injury report of the 2022 season is here and they will be without at least two players due to injury when they take on Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

On Saturday, the Seahawks ruled out third-year edge rusher Alton Robinson and long snapper Tyler Ott for the Week 1 contest. Robinson has a knee injury while Ott’s shoulder will keep him out on Monday.
Additionally, veteran cornerback Artie Burns (groin) is doubtful to suit up while third-year left guard Damien Lewis (knee/ankle) and rookie running back Ken Walker III (hernia) are both questionable to play vs Denver.
Robinson, who has five career sacks, is a rotational pass rusher for Seattle while Ott has been a fixture on the Seahawks’ special teams as he’s set to enter his fifth season with the franchise. With Ott out, Carson Tinker, who was signed to Seattle’s practice squad this week, figures to be the Seahawks’ long snapper.
Burns, a former first-round pick, likely missing the game signals that the Seahawks will start two of Sidney Jones, Michael Jackson and rookie fifth-round pick Tariq Woolen at outside cornerback. Jones battled a concussion the last few weeks but is no longer on the injury report. The UW product played well last season and started 11 games for the Seahawks before re-signing in free agency.
If Lewis is out, 2019 fourth-round pick Phil Haynes figures to get the start at left guard.
Walker underwent a surgery a few weeks ago and it’s unclear if he’ll make his NFL debut in Week 1. That would mean Rashaad Penny will be the clear lead back while DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer back him up.
For the Broncos, they have four players on the injury report for Monday. Starting right tackle Billy Turner (knee), starting outside linebacker Randy Gregory (shoulder/knee) and No. 3 receiver K.J. Hamler (knee/hip) are all questionable for Monday’s contest while starting inside linebacker Josey Jewell (calf) is doubtful to play.
Gregory was Denver’s top offseason addition not named Russell Wilson as he signed a five-year deal worth up to $70 million. He tied his career high with six sacks last season while with the Dallas Cowboys.
