Seahawks news for Saturday: Ken Walker still iffy and tank for QB? – 12th Man Rising

The Seattle Seahawks 2022 season starts in just over a week but in news for this week rookie Ken Walker might not be ready for Week 1 and who’s the 2023 QB?
We should all agree, right? The Seahawks must be jinxed with injuries at the running back position. Rashaad Penny has missed the majority of the games in his four-year career. Chris Carson was forced to retire with a neck injury.
Ken Walker III might be a stud at running back, but he’s already been bitten by the injury bug and is at risk of missing at least Week 1 of 2022. Let’s hope this isn’t a long-term trend.
Ever since head coach Pete Carroll informed the press and fans that Walker required surgery for a hernia (not a sports hernia), updates on when Walker might return have been muddled. It first appeared that Walker had a decent chance of being back for the first real game. Now? Not so much.
This week, while Carroll jokingly said he might start “punching (Walker) in the stomach pretty soon” to see if he has recovered from surgery, the coach also said Walker was in “uncharted territory” for both the player and the team.
That doesn’t sound good so who knows when Walker will actually return?
Pete Carroll doesn’t tank and neither will his teams. Let’s make that clear. Still, the Seattle Times offered the mere question of whether the Seahawks should basically lose on purpose to put themselves in a position to get an even higher draft choice in 2023 and take a player like Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud.
The newspaper wasn’t saying Seattle should purposefully lose but suggested a great many fans might want the team to so that the team has a better chance to pick its next Russell Wilson.
Here’s the thing, however. The Seahawks might not have Wilson or Bobby Wagner anymore, but the 2022 team still has talent. That talent – players like Quandre Diggs, Jordyn Brooks, DK Metcalf – are not going to let the team lose so easily. Seattle could easily surprise national pundits and have a winning season this year. And at the end of it all, we’d rather see Seattle win than lose, right?
