Rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged in connection with the 2021 shooting in Hollywood.
The 33-year-old musician was on Monday charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, along with charges of personally using a firearm in the alleged shooting of a former friend.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said in a statement, “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious crime that can end with tragic consequences not only for the target person but also for the innocent bystanders who visit Hollywood.” Statement, “My office did a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that a specific firearm charge needed to be added.”
The rapper, whose given name is Rakim Meyers, reportedly pointed a gun at former A$AP Mob member Terrell Efron, aka A$AP Reilly, in November 2021. As they argued, Rocky allegedly drew the gun and fired two shots at Reilly.
Reilly has since sued her former high school friend for assault, battery, and emotional distress, Rolling stone Reported last week.
The district attorney’s office said the Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery/murder department is still investigating. He is to appear on Wednesday.
