Powerball is a multi-state lottery played every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and is one of the two largest lottery jackpot games in America. Powerball jackpots start at $20 million, and other prize payouts with Power Play range from $1 million to $2 million. Tickets are $2. You can check the numbers tonight, or any previous winning numbers on the official Powerball Website,

There are nine ways to win money during Powerball. Getting a Powerball without any other numbers pays $4, and even more if the Powerplay is purchased for an additional dollar. The same payout goes for a ball plus a Powerball, and $7 is the payout with the Powerball for two correct numbers, or three correct numbers and no Powerball.

If all five white, numbered balls are chosen, but the red Powerball is not correct, the payout is $1 million, with an even higher payout if the Powerplay is chosen.

The other multi-state lottery is Mega Millions, played on Tuesdays and Fridays. Like the Powerball, the jackpot is reset to $20 million after winning the jackpot, and a row of numbers is $2, with a $1 option to multiply your winnings with a Megaplier.
