One man was killed and two women were injured during a shootout inside a popular resort on the Las Vegas Strip, according to officials.
KVVU said that shots were fired inside the Miraj at around 8.30 pm on Thursday night. This briefly triggered a lockdown, which was lifted before 11 p.m.
Metropolitan Police Department Capt. Dory Coren said the violence was caused by a fight between four men inside a hotel room, which soon escalated into violence. He confirmed that one person was found dead at the scene, while the other two victims were hospitalized for their injuries.
“We assume that everyone knows each other,” Koren told reporters during the overnight briefing. “And during that altercation, one person shot three other persons.”
None of the victims has been identified, but the man killed was described as a man in his 40s or 50s.
Videos shared online show a large police presence outside the hotel and officials asking people to avoid the area.
The gunman was absconding till Friday morning.
Investigators have “good information, good clues that we’re working on,” said Koren, who vowed to nab the suspect.
“These types of incidents this type of extreme violence that happens in our city, we take it very seriously, you have seen it with all the investigations we do, we are fortunate to have the best in the country with the highest clearance There is a homicide investigation unit. Rates for a reason so we are confident that we will solve this case,” Koren said.
