NYC Mayor Eric Adams says Rudy Giuliani should be investigated for falsely reporting a crime while video showed his back being tapped.

Earlier this week, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani claimed he was assaulted at a grocery store on Long Island while helping campaign for his son. He described the incident and said that he received a bullet in his back which led to him, but did not fall. However, surveillance video showed a less dramatic event than that described by Giuliani.

Adams told Trevor Noah,

“She wrongly reported the crime, and the district attorney should take this seriously. The person she falsely told spent 24 hours in jail is not acceptable. I’m going to call the DA, let us be persistent.” Whatever theatrics he did, it’s not acceptable. If that wasn’t the tape, imagine what would have happened to that guy.”

Mayor Adams speaking on the situation said Central Park Kareni Incident involving Amy Cooper and Christian Cooper. If you all remember, in 2020 Christian was falsely accused of endangering Amy’s life after she asked Amy to keep her dog on a leash.

Grocery store employee Danielle Gill was originally charged with second-degree assault. However, according to NBC NewsCourt records show that the charges were later changed to misdemeanor assault with intent to cause bodily injury. The record also shows two additional misdemeanors, third-degree menacing and second-degree harassment.
