New fitness equipment coming to Echo Park Lake

Los Angeles community leaders broke ground Tuesday in a new outdoor fitness area designed for seniors at Echo Park Lake.

The fitness equipment will be located in the northwest corner of the park and will take about three months to install, the office of City Council Member Mitch O’Farrell said in a news release.

“Parks play a vital role in keeping all Angelinos fit and healthy,” O’Farrell said. “I’m proud to work with the local community to secure funding for Echo Park Lake’s newest facility, in a safe, active environment, keeping our seniors front and center.”

O’Farrell says the new device is the result of “extensive dialogue” between Echo Park’s seniors and the Department of Recreation and Parks.
