Rumors have been swirling about Irving’s desire to leave his team but there was some speculation as to how serious he was.
It’s clear now that Irving is indeed looking for a new NBA home — but his options are pretty limited.

Apart from the Los Angeles Lakers, no other team in the league is reported to have signed-and-trade deals for Irving.
Meanwhile, reports say that the Nets are not interested in any possible package being put together by the Lakers.
So, what does this mean for Irving’s future in purple and gold?
Even though the Nets are unhappy with what L.A. is putting on the table, Irving still has the upper hand here.
That’s because he’s made two things clear: he wants to play for the Lakers and is willing to pay a lot of money to do so.
Recent reports say Irving is very motivated to sign a deal with his old friend and championship teammate lebron james in Los Angeles.
As far as the sign-and-trade deal is concerned, Irving doesn’t need it.
Irving could bypass Brooklyn, turn down his upcoming player option, and sign with the Lakers for an exception of $6 million.
He will lose a lot of money but get what he wants.
Plus, in a year he can renegotiate his contract and earn a lot more.
The Nets aren’t going to give him maximum detail no matter what, so Irving won’t be happy with anything he offers.
Now it is a matter of deciding how much he is willing to sacrifice to achieve his goal.
