jacob degrom came back.

All elbow and shoulder troubles seem to be a distant memory.

last night, he took it to the mound New York Mets For the first time since 7 July 2021.

Starting against the Washington Nationals, who had just traded john sotoDeGrom was somewhat limited on the pitch, but he played five innings and conceded just one run on 59 pitches.

Not only was he insanely efficient, but he threw a slider at 94.5 mph.

Yes, you read that right.

In fact, he averaged 92.9 mph on his slider last night, which is the highest average for a slider in the entire season, according to Codify on Twitter.

It is clear that DeGrom is showing no signs of rust and is still able to drive the hitters away.

But a slider that averages 93 mph?

This is unheard of.

It just goes to show how impressive DeGrom really is.

Sure, the Mets had to limit their pitch count, but for the five innings he was out there, he didn’t disappoint and did the unthinkable with his slider.

His hand appears to be recovering after months of rest and rehab.

If he can still top out at 93-plus on his slider, he’s still fully capable of becoming an ace.

It’s an impressive impression he made last night.

Now, the Mets have both and Max Scherzer Healthy in their rotation.

These are two people who work hard and have a ton of seasoned experience.

They both finally have a chance to make the top one-two punches in all baseball in the Mets rotation.

We’ll see if DeGrom can continue to average speeds in the 90s for its slider.
