Injury Updates From Pete Carroll Ahead Of The Seahawks' Opener Against Denver – Seahawks.com

Seahawks.com Senior Reporter
The Seahawks open up the 2022 season with a Monday night game against the Denver Broncos, and while, like most teams in Week 1, they’re mostly healthy heading into the opener, there a few injury concerns heading into the game.
For starters, the Seahawks will be without regular long snapper Tyler Ott, who has a shoulder injury that may require surgery, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said.
“His shoulder popped out in practice,” Carroll said. “It’s happened before, last year, and it didn’t seem to be a problem at all, but it got in a bad spot, an awkward position, and it just went… He probably has to get it fixed.”
Presumably Ott’s absence will mean Seattle turns to Carson Tinker, who joined the practice squad earlier in the week. The Seahawks could either elevate Tinker from the practice squad for the game, or make a roster move to add him to the 53-man roster. As Carroll noted, Tinker does have experience working with Seattle kicker Jason Myers when the two were in Jacksonville, where Tinker was the Jaguars regular long snapper for four-plus seasons before injuries set him back.
“He looked great,” Carroll said of Tinker’s week of practice. “We didn’t skip a beat.”

The Seahawks will also be without outside linebacker Alton Robinson, who is dealing with a knee injury sustained in Seattle’s preseason finale. Carroll said they are still determining the course of action with Robinson and that surgery could be an option.
Asked if Robinson’s injury could be a long-term concern, Carroll said, “Possibly. We’re talking about that now trying to determine what’s necessary for him… He sprained his knee, and we’re not quite sure if he’s ready to work through it or if he needs some work on that. That’s what we’re trying to determine. It could go either way.”
Cornerback Artie Burns, who has a groin injury and didn’t practice all week, is doubtful, while rookie running back Kenneth Walker III (hernia) and guard Damien Lewis (knee/ankle) are both questionable.
“Walker (is) running around, he looked incredible two days ago moving,” Carroll said. “So he’s questionable. (Lewis) is in that same category. He practiced some and got some stuff done, so he’s really close to being ready to go. So he’s questionable also.”
A couple of players who had injury issues coming into the week were not on the final injury report, meaning they’re good to go. That group includes rookie pass rusher Boye Mafe (shoulder) and cornerback Sidney Jones IV (concussion).
On Mafe, Carroll said. “He did great. He’s full go.” And on Jones, Carroll said, “Sidney’s ready to roll.”
