Iman Shumpert charged with keeping weed at Dallas airport

Former New York Nike Iman Schumpert was arrested at a Dallas airport and charged with marijuana possession on Wednesday.

Police said Schumpert, who also played for the Nets for a while, admitted that he was carrying about six ounces of weed in his bag, TMZ. informed of, Schumpert was hoping to fly to Los Angeles from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

According to TMZ, Schumpert reportedly told police that he was still hoping to catch his flight to see his daughters. The police retaliated and arrested him and sent him to jail.

The 32-year-old NBA veteran, who hasn’t played in the league since 2021 but won “Dancing with the Stars” later that year, faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

If Schumpert had marijuana in California, that would be fine, but Texas hasn’t legalized the drug.

While Schumpert booked his career on New York teams, he also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets during his 10-year stint in the league. He won the 2016 NBA title with the Cavaliers led by LeBron James.
