Husband of California Dermatologist Creates Drano Poisoning Story to Gain Custody of Their Kids

The husband of a California dermatologist, who allegedly poisoned her with Drano, made up the story to gain custody of their children.

Yu “Emily” Yu, 45, was recently arrested after her husband claimed he poisoned her with Drano. Jack Chen claimed that Emily constantly added chemicals to her lemonade. He also documented his wife pouring Drano into her drink on three separate occasions.

“The idea that my client, who is a 45-year-old well-respected dermatologist in Orange County, would destroy her life, destroy the lives of her children and try to kill her husband, is completely absurd. and is untrue, and defamatory for that matter,” says attorney David Wohl.

However, on Friday, Emily was released on bail and was not charged with any crime. According to Emily’s lawyer, the video that Chen recorded was not what it appeared to be. Apparently, Emily was using Drano to open the sink pipe. In the video, Emily pours chemicals into an empty cup to avoid splattering.

“Whenever he poured Drano into a cup, it was completely empty,” the lawyer said. “This was to facilitate use in the sink or any other part of the house that was closed off as a drainage.”

Wohl argued that Chen made up a false story with the hope of divorcing Emily and gaining custody of their two children.

“We fully believe that these claims they make are part and parcel of that effort,” Wohl said.
