Oklahoma City police told news outlets that the search for an Oklahoma man and his three children ended hours after they began when a passerby saw a devastating scene on a residential street.
Police began a search for the man on Saturday, August 6, around 4 a.m., when it learned that he had took his three children from his home, and “with respect to the statement,” police told the Associated Press.
The AP reported that all the children were under the age of 7.
About three hours later, in a nearby neighborhood, a woman walking her dogs He saw a car sitting on the road, several feet from the curb, he told KWTV station. She was standing but the engine was running.
He told the outlet that a man was sitting in the driver’s seat and bent over. Not sure whether the man was dead or drunk, he approached the driver’s side – then saw blood under the car.
“When I saw that blood, I didn’t go any further, I didn’t have to look to see what was in there,” she told the station, adding that she went to a neighbor’s house to dial 911.
