“Nobody told me, I didn’t know. That was crazy,” he continued. “So I’m in the ICU for two weeks. Because of what was going on in my mind, I had to get them to do these tests. Had to wake up every hour for two weeks. Basically feeling like a sobriety test, like touching my nose, rubbing my heel on my calf and all that. So every hour for two weeks, I had to wake up and do this . [I was] tired. As soon as they left I would try to sleep because I knew they would be back in the next hour.

Despite the horrors of it all, Dre said he “never felt like” he was “in trouble” during his hospital stay. “I felt like, OK, I’m just going through the process. I’m ready to go home,” he said.

While Dre was undergoing treatment, there was support from his family, friends and fans, and he was finally able to return home after about two weeks. In June 2021, he spoke about his health and how he never admitted to suffering from his problems. “It’s really strange, I’ve never had high blood pressure,” he said. Los Angeles Times, “And I’ve always been someone who has always taken care of my health. But that’s something that happens to black men and high blood pressure for some reason, and I’ve never seen it. But I’m taking care of myself And I think every black person should just get it checked out and make sure things are okay with blood pressure.
