Newsom signed AB 1666, a law intended to protect women, doctors and others who aid in abortion from civil judgment and civil lawsuits by states where abortions are illegal, CBS News reported.

Newsom also took to social media to defend the right to abortion and introduce her new law.

In part, he wrote, “Abortion is legal in California. It will remain that way,” and then added that California would not cooperate with any state to prosecute women or doctors for seeking or providing fertility care. .
