Barbie Ferreira announces exit from ‘Euphoria’ after two seasons

Bye bye cat! ‘Euphoria’ star barbie ferreira announced that she would not return for the third season of the show.

In a post on Instagram, Ferreira announced that after two seasons, she’s hanging out the glasses, cat mask, and goth chic wardrobe she sported as Catherine Hernandez. Barbie’s message was accompanied by “fan art” created by her costar Hunter Schaefer, who plays Jules on the HBO show.

Four years after playing the most special and mysterious character of Kat, I have to say goodbye to one very tearful eye.”

I hope many of you can see yourself in her like I did and are glad to see the character she is on her journey today. I put all my care and love into it and I hope you guys can feel it. Love you Catherine Hernandez.”

Fans followed the story of Katherine Hernandez, affectionately known as Kat, on a journey of self-love, self-expression, and confidence during Seasons 1 and 2 of the show. She eventually finds the confidence to be her sexiest and body positive self before breaking the heart of her first high-school sweetheart.

Euphoria Season 2 focused on the development of the main cast, with the character of Kat taking a back seat in the drama. The alleged tension between Barbie and “Euphoria” director Sam Levinson was blamed for a huge cut in Kat’s story, but he brushed off those rumors in an interview with Insider.

Sometimes, things take on a life of their own, and they’re not rooted in truth, but that’s okay because I know it’s just out of passion and curiosity and that’s all good stuff. And I signed p for it. So, I’ll take it. I’ll take the good and the bad.”
