He shared on Twitter the letter received from the league regarding the said violation.
The letter reads, “Specifically, your pants failed to cover the knee area. Rule 5, Section 4, Article 3, Item (4) of the 2022 Official Playing Rules of the National Football League states that the pants Must be worn over the entire knee area; pants shortened or rolled up are prohibited to meet the above stockings.”
He received a $5,000 fine for the violation.
The ruling makes sense because unprotected knees can lead to injuries that can derail a career.
However, Odum questions the sanction, saying, “So I got a 5k fine.. yes the NFL is something else. Talking about my knees isn’t covered. Where?”
The Central Arkansas alumnus protested the alleged violation by sharing a photo of him during their presidency game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The image shows that he covered his knees, making the blockage more suspicious.
The way he is speaking indicates that he will be fighting the fine.
A Quick Look at Odum’s NFL Career
After failing to have his name heard in the 2018 NFL Draft, he joined the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent.
He played for the Colts for four seasons before signing a three-year deal with the 49ers this season.
Odum was a First-team All-Pro member in 2020, when he had 21 singles tackles and a force majeure.
As of the 2021 season, Odum has 150 tackles, four forced fumbles, four pass defended and two interceptions.
San Francisco reached the NFC Championship Game last season, but lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
