1 killed, 5 injured in shootings in Chicago on Wednesday

One person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting in Chicago on Wednesday.

  • A man was shot dead at around 6:35 pm in East Garfield Park on the West Side. 30 year old man was on the street 3900 Block of West Gladys Avenue Chicago police said that when a car pulled over and someone inside opened fire, it hit it from behind several times. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died.
  • A man was shot at around 4:20 a.m. in the South Shore neighborhood. Police said the 28-year-old was in the 1700 block of East 75 Street when someone in a white van opened fire. He received multiple bullets and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital. Police said he was transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
  • Police said two men were shot on the far south side in West Pullman at around 5:35 p.m. They were attacked in the street in the 12300 block of South Michigan Avenue. One of them, 32, was shot in the back and the other, 38, was shot in the right leg. Police said the two were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the young man is in critical condition and the old man is in a stable condition. A weapon has been recovered from the spot.

At least two others were injured across the city on Wednesday.
